hey there! it's week two of the 'One Room Challenge' with Linda of blog 'Calling It Home' and there is definitely progress! if you tuned in last week, i'm tackling our master bedroom and closets. this past week was all about closets. i had used easy closets on a past ORC and had such a great experience, i ordered from them again. just be warned, your UPS guy is not going to like you very much. luckily i have amazing neighbors that came to my rescue and took everything inside for me! how did he think we could get inside to bring this stuff in??? moving on... my painter started by taking down all of the old storage components, then patched all the holes and finally gave each closet a fresh coat of benjamin moore 'white dove.' i think it's a vast improvement. the fleshy toned walls are all over this house, but won't be for long... as you can see, the components have started going up and i couldn't resist hanging at least one item in the closet. i have plans for storing my jewelry that i'll share next week, as well as picking out the knobs for my drawer fronts. another main thing i need to do is decide on a paint color for the bedroom walls. who knew that would be so hard?
so that's it for this week. it seems slow i know, but things are going on behind the scenes. i did select a bed and pick out a mattress, so that's something right? don't forget to visit Calling It Home for the other guest participants and featured designers who are working away at their rooms as well!

as i write these words, i'm thinking to myself, 'am i really going to add something else to my plate right now?' the answer is a huge YES! i wasn't planning to be a guest participant with the One Room Challenge this time around, but it's been so long since i've joined in, and we're renovating our townhouse anyway, so what's the worst that could happen? right? for those of you that aren't familiar, the One Room Challenge happens twice a year with Linda of blog 'Calling It Home.' you basically pick a room in your home and have 6 weeks to complete it, sharing your progress along with way. there are 20 featured designers that post on wednesdays, and anyone else can be a guest participant and post progress blogs on thursdays. i have participated 4 times before in our last house, making over our guest bathroom, kids' bathroom, master lounge and master dressing room. i struggled with what to tackle this time around, many rooms need help, but i chose to focus on our master bedroom. i already tackled the kids' bedrooms, and since i can't fit the bathrooms into a 6 week schedule, this seemed to make the most sense and would complete the upstairs living areas. take a look at where this room started, caution, it's very green! i told you. i love green, but not in my bedroom. and what's up with the shelf above my husband's closet doors? there are a few strange details happening in this room. i will say, we already have our wallpaper up and our new ceiling fan installed; we had all of that completed with the work in the boys' rooms. it helps, but the wallpaper looks funny against the green walls! the closets are in terrible shape and desperately need an overhaul. see what i mean? my plan for the room...
new paint wallpaper accent wall - done new modern ceiling fan - done upgrade to a king size bed with a new mattress new bedside tables new lamps new bedding and decorative pillows new closet systems new window treatments unpack all remaining boxes and put everything in its place! that doesn't sound too difficult right? the countdown in on, so stay tuned and follow along every thursday until the reveal on november 9th! and as always, support the featured designers and other guest participants by checking in at Calling It Home, we all need encouragement while going through this process! xoxo |
