Happy New Year everyone! I thought a great way to start the new year would be to go back to my roots and share my projects and the process behind them. It's harder to explain all of that through Instagram, so I'm bringing back my 'On the Boards' series to showcase what designs are in process, and ultimately installed, with all the details in between. This is one of my favorite clients, I've nearly completed her entire house, but today we're looking at the formal living room. You can check out some of the completed rooms here, I still have more to photograph (as usual). My client has some amazing pieces that we're going to keep, the art, lamps and side tables, but everything else is going. Take a look at the room as it is now. The room has great features like this bay window and fireplace; it just needs a little makeover so it flows with the rest of the updated house. My design for the space includes reupholstering the two existing lounge chairs in a pet-friendly crypton fabric, it's the prime napping spot for their puppy. I chose a warm palette, playing off the tones in the artwork, while adding in a pop of citron to tie into the adjacent kitchen. The house has a more traditional architecture, but the inside is a nice blend of contemporary and classic elements. I love mixing modern pieces like this coffee table and accent chairs with more traditional patterns to add sophistication. Install is scheduled for mid-February, so stay tuned for the after pictures and more projects details.
Happy New Year!
