One Room Challenge!  Here we go again!

It's been a few years since I've participated in the ORC, three years to be exact, but our Master Bathroom desperately needs an update, so here I go again!

For those who aren't familiar with the ORC, it's a six week challenge of making over a room, documenting the process weekly, from start to finish.  It was created by Linda Weinstein of Calling It Home and is currently in it's 18th season!  Every Wednesday twenty designers will showcase their rooms and on Thursday, guest participants join the fun.  It's a great resource for design tips, tricks and inspiration.  It's not easy, but it's always worth it, so follow along until we reveal our rooms November 11th and 12th!

Like I said, our Master Bathroom will be the focus this time around.  We live in a 1967 ranch in South Charlotte, and like many homes of that era, the master bath is TINY.  It's so small that the second vanity is in the bedroom!  Here is the existing floor plan, and my concept for the renovation.

After many concepts, this ended up being my favorite layout.  I didn't want to reinvent the wheel, so all existing plumbing will stay in the same location, we're just adding lines for the new tub.  We'll end up with a huge dressing room/master closet and an expanded bathroom to accommodate a  freestanding tub for me.

To jumpstart the project, I had the new closet wall built so as demo happens, the construction mess will be contained.  We can just keep the door closed to all the chaos and dust while living through the renovation.  Here are the spaces before and now...

It already makes a huge difference with the wall up!  So what I am putting back?  You can expect lots of color and bold touches, my signature design style.  Here is the design I have in mind...

Demo is underway as we speak, so come back next Thursday to see the progress.  I'm hopeful demolition will be complete, and framing can begin.  It's gotta get ugly before it gets better!  Don't forget to check out the other guest participants and featured designers and show your support!
